I thought we, Filipinos cannot be trusted anymore but I was wrong when I and my wife went to a wet market yesterday. Distracted by the mob of a used clothing shop I went nearer to investigate. After a while I remembered my basketful of meat I left on top of the seat of my motorcycle. Hurriedly I went back and checked out the goods inside the basket. Nothing's missing. I looked and observed the people milling around me, everyone is so busy. So I thought why not experiment on people's honesty? Again, I kept myself in a distance from my goods and waited for someone to lift the basket. Not a single man is interested even to take a glance in that basket - not even the lady who sells vegetables nearby or the passers-by.
I would not argue that some Filipinos have been caught stealing abroad. Yes that is true. But just because of those minimal cases the foreigners have the right to discriminate us all? No, they have not. Or have they heard Filipino cab drivers return thousand dollars and other goods left by the passengers? No they haven't but the drivers though in need of more income return the found items to the owners.
As for me, my trust is still intact for the Filipino people. Yes there are cases of thievery but summing it all up those are still minimal. There are still many good, honest and trustworthy Filipino people.
